#1: CBD Will Get You High

CBD in fact is non-intoxicating. It doesn’t have the psychoactive properties like it’s THC counterpart. It actually has been known to counteract the effects of THC, the component of marijuana that makes you feel “high”. This allows users to enjoy it’s many benefits, without the possible overwhelm of psychoactive response.

#2: All CBD Comes from Marijuana

Yes, CBD is found in marijuana, but when utilized as a health supplement, it is extracted from hemp. Hemp has been cultivated by humans for a very long time. Over 10,000 years in fact. It’s grown all around the world, and has many environmentally friendly benefits such as being highly sustainable and renewable. It has many uses including: creation of textiles, insulation and biofuel.

#3: Hemp and Marijuana are the same

Hemp and marijuana technically come from the same plant family, but are very different in function, cultivation and application. Marijuana contains high levels of THC (psychoactive compound resulting in a “high”) which is for both recreational and medicinal purposes. Hemp contains .3 % or less of THC, but is extremely high in CBD. This is typically used in dietary supplements and skin products. Both THC and CBD have positive qualities, but for those seeking a non-psychoactive alternative, CBD is the clear choice.

#4: CBD is illegal

The Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 changed the definition of marijuana to exclude hemp. This means that it is not considered a controlled substance and a DEA registration is not required to either grow or research it. This also means it does not show up on a drug test as it contains .3% or less of THC. Of course it is important to note that for jobs requiring drugs tests further clarification is required of CBD allowance. But since the THC levels are so low they should not show up on a panel.

#5: CBD is all the same

Quality is extremely important when it comes to CBD. It must be grown, extracted and manufactured from a trusted company who is known for adhering to the highest quality standards. Always do your research when you are shopping around for CBD. When looking for a CBD product always look for one that is full-spectrum. There are companies out there that are cultivating a lower quality product, but it is always best for CBD to seek out the highest quality available to see the most beneficial results.

CBD versus THC can get confusing; but it is important to note that they are indeed quite different. Those seeking the many beneficial qualities of CBD can trust that they need not worry about the potential risks of THC products.
